This test measures the amount of apo B in the blood. The test is used to evaluate the risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD); sometimes to help monitor treatment for high cholesterol or to help diagnose a rare inherited apolipoprotein B (apo B) deficiency. Patients with increased concentrations of Apolipoprotein B may also be at increased risk of atherosclerosis (hardening and narrowing of arteries).
