"TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) - TSH a hormone secreted by the pituitary gland. It stimulates the thyroid to create thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).

T4 (Total Thyroxine) - Evaluates T4 that has attached to protein and the free T4 that is left in the blood for the body to use.

T3 uptake (Triiodothyronine) - The active form of T4. This hormone notifies cells to use digested food as energy, rather than store it.

T7 (Free Thyroxine Index) - A calculation of T4 and T3 uptake."

  • Test Instructions : Specimen collection after fluorescein dye angiography should be delayed for at least 3 days. For patients on hemodialysis, specimen collection should be delayed for 2 weeks.

    Please do not exercise prior to testing. It is best that your blood is taken in a rested state.
